"If you were given an opportunity to meet with God, one on one, so He could deal with your great sadness, how do you really think you would react? We attempt to place our faith in things hard to explain...like "God." The shack represents a place that we all search for as believers in Jesus Christ or even as a seeker, just looking for some sort of Spiritual truth. I want to know God. I want to believe in God and I want answers.
People we call "theologians" attempt their best to explain "God," and other things, which mostly leaves us in a puddle of muddy water more than it does in a clear and refreshing stream. Because of this we leave "God" to be explained by someone else who seems to have more confidence in their definition of who they say He is or we just leave it alone.
Whether we like it or not, we are all theologians. We have our ideas about God and questions we carry around inside us about Him. As a Christian you cannot deny that we are called by God to know Him, intimately. But this challenging question continues to hound us, "Where is God in a world so filled with unspeakable pain?".
The Shack series will impact the way you think about God. There are hard questions that need answers that the Bible teaches alone. Jesus and His sacrifice upon the cross is the very apex of the Christian faith. There He paid the penalty for our sins and our answers...answers about God. Answers that bring resolve. The best place to begin understanding the answers we need in this life is to learn what the Bible says about itself.
