1984 Cornerstone Church was founded on September 11, 1984. We began meeting in the Coop building at the fairgrounds, a small building with a concrete floor and a garage door at one end of the building. We had to set up and take down all our music equipment, chairs and tables every week.

1985 A few months after meeting in the Coop building, we outgrew it and began to meet in the smaller side of the 4-H building. We continued to use the Coop building for our nursery and Children’s Church.

There were some Sundays we couldn’t rent these buildings because other events were happening at the fairgrounds, so we had to meet in the park. We would usually meet at a picnic area in the zoo, have a short service, then have a picnic and play games.

1989 In 1989 Cornerstone Church rented a facility located on the corner of 11th and Elm streets. This building, while small, served our needs. In 1995, we began having two worship services on Sunday morning to accommodate the growth the church was experiencing.

1996 In January 1996, Cornerstone Church purchased land 22 acres of land on 8th Street. Construction on the 17,500 ft Sanctuary and Education wing began in 1998.

1999 On July 4, 1999, we had our first service in our new Sanctuary and nursery areas. We were thankful that God had provided the funds for us to move in debt-free. In 2000 we were able to finish the Education wing. The kitchen and parking lots were completed in 2002.

2002 After 18 years of wonderful leadership Pastor Kent Crockett felt released from ministry from ministry in Garden City. In August, Pastor Neil Burum from Amarillo took over the position of Senoir Pastor.

Present and Future Plans- In December 2004, we launched our Generations: Fulfilling the Vision, Capital Stewardship Campaign to raise $1.1 million. “We are to make room for the vision and ministry that God is giving us by building a multipurpose ministry facility that will assist us in reaching people of all ages and from all walks of life within our city and region.”

North Property- 2005: To help us facilitate our growth we purchased the North Property which is an additional 15 acres just north of our present facilities. On this property we have a horse stable rental facility that assists us with some of the financial demands on the property.

There is a 3500 sq.ft. metal building that is being prepared for our Youth Center and Outreach center, (Food and clothing). Presently this metal building is called the “OC”, or the Outreach Center and we are building it debt free.

This Year- We will be asking for volunteers to help us finish out as much of the “OC” as possible to help us cut as many costs as we can. We hope to have both sides of the building in operation by the Summer of 2007.
